• We still have playhouse raffle tickets available.  We are partnering with the Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan and will be giving them 50% of the proceeds.  Tickets are 1 for $3.00 or 2 for $5.00.  There will be 2 winners.  Each winner will receive 1 of the 2 playhouses donated by Big C Lumber & Glenlord Home Center delivered FREE of charge to a location of their choice within Berrien County.  Help support the Humane Society and the incoming educational program here at the SWMHBA!  The winners will be drawn during our GMM next week.

• The SWMHBA is looking for a meeting room that will hold 20 to 30 people for educational courses.  If you have a room available, or know someone that does please let us know.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

• The Michigan Energy Office is sponsoring the 2009 “Energy Star Home” grant program.  Licensed residential homebuilders have an opportunity to receive a $5,000 grant for building an Energy Star Home.  Five grants are available.  Grant application deadline is December 15, 2008.  The grant projects will begin on March 1, 2009 and the homes must be completed by August 30, 2009.  These competitive grants are available to all Michigan homebuilders that have not previously received an Energy Star Home grant from the Energy Office.  The application for this grant can be found at www.michigan.gov/energyoffice.  Scroll down to “News and Information” and click on “2009 Energy Star Home Grants for Builders Application".
